the challenge
The landscape is promising but complex
Starting a psychedelic business means operating at the intersection of clinical science, shifting regulation, cautious capital markets, and evolving public perception. The structural challenges are consistent no matter the regulations.
1
Regulatory frameworks are still being written
What’s permitted today may not be tomorrow, and what’s prohibited today may not be next year. Founders who build on a regulatory assumption rather than a regulatory analysis are exposed.
2
Investor due diligence is unusually rigorous
Funds in the psychedelic space have specific expectations around compliance, clinical rationale, and exit pathways that require preparation well beyond standard pitch materials.
3
The reputational stakes are higher than most
A single misstep can close doors that are difficult to reopen. Getting the framing right from the start is not optional.
4
Strategic guidance is structurally required
This is not an industry where a founder can figure it out as they go. The cost of early missteps compounds. Getting the right advice early is the most efficient investment a startup can make.
Our Work
Strategic consulting for psychedelic founders
Psilonautica provides early-stage psychedelic startups with the expertise guiding larger, better-resourced organisations. We work with founders at the earliest stages through to growth, wherever strategic input is most needed.
Business Model Validation
Validating your operating model against current and anticipated regulatory conditions in your target markets before you build infrastructure.
Regulatory Pathway Mapping
Identifying the most viable route to legal operation, clinical authorisation, or product approval for your specific model.
Investor Readiness
Preparing the evidence base, compliance documentation, and strategic narrative that specialist psychedelic investors expect, structured around what funds in this sector actually look for.
Team & Advisor Structuring
Helping founders identify the credentialled advisors and clinical partners that strengthen both operations and investor confidence, and knowing which roles matter at which stage.
Stakeholder Communications
Crafting the language that accurately represents your work to regulators, press, and the public. What you say shapes how seriously you are taken.
International Market Entry
Our advisors have direct experience across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and beyond, with active relationships in the regulatory bodies, clinical networks, and investor communities that matter.

common questions
What to expect
Questions clients typically raise before engaging us. Ask us anything else directly.
Do you work with pre-revenue startups?
Yes. Some of the most valuable consulting work happens before a business has launched. We work with founders at the idea stage through to Series A and beyond, depending on where strategic input is most needed.
What jurisdictions do you cover?
Our advisors have active expertise across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. For clients operating in other jurisdictions, we assess coverage on a case-by-case basis and will be upfront about where the limits of our expertise lie.
Can you help with fundraising directly?
We advise on investor readiness and can help prepare materials, but do not act as a placement agent or broker. We can facilitate introductions where appropriate within our network.
What does onboarding look like?
An introductory call to understand your operating model and immediate questions, followed by a written scope, timeline, and fee structure. Initial consultations can typically be arranged within a week of first contact.
Let's help you ahieve your goals
Building something serious in the psychedelic space requires more than a good idea. It requires the right structure, the right advice, and the right moment to move.
